Apple Picking at Pine Crest Orchard
Forget powdery soft apples. You have never tasted the fruit of the Garden of Eden (or the fruit that took the breathe away from Snow White) until you have eaten fruit you picked with your own hands 2 seconds old from the tree. Crispier than you could imagine – the crunch noise reverberates across the office when you take a bite. Where? Pine Crest Orchard, Bilpin, aronud 1hr 15mins from Sydney. When? February til May. How much? A mere $3 a kilo, free entry.
There are also some nashi pears:
Two varieties of apples so far – Jonathon and Royal Gala. And some quince (below) but not available for picking.
As well as some pears (not my favourite fruit)
Definitely drop in if you can, and see how apples are meant to taste. The owner informed me that some shops are selling now (in February) apples that were picked in May last year!! So go to Pine Crest Orchard and go to the source!
Open all weekend! Happy picking! Heigh Ho- Heigh Ho!

Hi May,
Apple picking is currently finished for the last season and they’ll start again on boxing day! It doesn’t cost anything at Pine Crest Orchard to pick, but you pay for what you pick at a really cheap rate (this year was $3 a kg). You should email them about the next season!
